Repointing Belfast and Northern Ireland

Repointing is the process of removing failed, loose or unsuitable mortar from between the bricks and replacing it with fresh mortar.
Repointing is the process of removing failed, loose or unsuitable mortar from between the bricks and replacing it with fresh mortar. Done properly, repointing improves the appearance of the property, helps protect the wall from weather and stops water sitting in open or broken joints.
Abbey Repointing Ltd carries out repointing across Belfast, Newtownabbey and Northern Ireland, including full houses, gable walls, front elevations, bay windows, chimneys and smaller repair areas where suitable.

Why Abbey Repointing

Honest work on every job

We aim for proper preparation and clean finished joints, not fast over-pointing. The mortar has to suit the property. Some homes need lime mortar, some can take a hybrid mix and some more modern areas may be suitable for cement-based repointing. Abbey Repointing Ltd will advise honestly instead of forcing the wrong system onto the wall.

We won't sell you work your wall doesn't need.

Common questions

Quick answers — or just WhatsApp us and ask.

Can you repoint just one area, or do you do whole houses?

Both. We repoint full houses and elevations as well as smaller areas such as a chimney, gable or bay window where that is the sensible repair.

How do I know if my pointing has failed?

Common signs are loose or sandy mortar, open joints, moss growing from the joints and damp showing inside. Send photos and we can usually tell from the pictures.

Not sure what your wall needs?

WhatsApp photos of the wall, including close-ups of the joints and full photos of the elevation, and we will advise from there.
